You need the full course of antibiotics before the infection is completely gone completely. Normally, the ear starts to feel better in 3 or 4 days, so it should soon be improved. If you have such fear that you will need a sleeping pill, I suggest, you could tell your doctor. Perhaps you need a different type of antibiotic, or perhaps you have a sinus infection, or if you have a collection of wax, following the ear infection.
You can try applying warm compresses to the ear. In this way, you can relieve a connection with the feeling and experience pain or discomfort.

And if that does not work after taking antibiotics.
Try to clear blocked ears, a few drops of warm olive oil into the affected ear. Lie for 5 min. on the opposite side, then turned, so that you can not escape the olive oil. (Do not put liquid into your ear when you think you have a perforated eardrum!) For earaches, soak a cotton ball in olive oil, 5 drops of lavender oil. Laying lots in your outer ear until the pain subsides.
Hope that helps, take care. :)
